What products should you promote?

There is a huge number of products which you can promote on the Internet, but which ones are best for an online business? I would answer that question in one word - subscriptions. Why? Well, just think about a regular off-line business for a moment. Companies that sell one product at a time have to rely on either new customers coming into their store or current customers wanting to buy something new. Even the current customer may only return once or twice a year. But now think of companies like your cable/satellite provider, your telephone provider, and your insurance provider. These companies receive income from you each month . . . and every month. You are paying for a subscription service.

The great thing about offering a subscription service is that you will be able to project how much your income will be in the months ahead. If you are selling ebooks for example, this isn't so easy. You may be getting a reasonable number of sales with one particular ebook, but what happens when a better one comes out? The other problem with ebooks is that people can buy them and then request their money back if they are not satisfied with them. I tend to not buy ebooks for a number of reasons. Most of them are based upon information, that is freely available on the Internet, that has been regurgitated. Also, the prices that are charged are ludicrous. Take Internet marketing as an example. Why buy an ebook from a dubious source that is, say, $47 and contains less than 100 pages, when you can go to Amazon and purchase books like Web Marketing for Dummies, which is over 300 pages long, costs about $25 (or less!) and is written by a recognised subject expert.

So what can you promote on the Internet that is subscription based? In an earlier posting I mentioned autoresponders. Every Internet marketer needs an autoresponder, and so if you promote one that pays a percentage of the monthly fees as a commission, you will be receiving a guaranteed monthly income, whilst the person buying from you continues to use the service. The best commission plan is supplied by TrafficWave. They have a compensation plan that goes ten levels deep and provides a very attractive leadership bonus.

If you are interested in promoting several subscription based products then check out my Profit Tools Program which has been designed to help Internet marketers promote solely subscription based products that every Internet marketer needs. What ever products you do choose to promote, try to make sure the majority are subscription based. At least then if you have a poor month of sales you will have your recurring commissions to pay your bills.

In my next posting I'll be discussing ways of measuring your advertising. Lord Lever Hulme famously once remarked "I know half my advertising is wasted, I just don't know which half." Well now there is a way and I'll tell you about it next time. Until then, happy marketing.
