Autoresponders and List Building

It seems many people still have websites that have no means of capturing people's details. As an online marketer that is almost an offence deserving a long stay in the slammer. Building a database is the number one activity of all the gurus. They'll share all the other "secrets" but very few, if any, will tell you how important list building is. They know that your profit is in your list.

But how do you unlock the potential of your list? You need details of your customers and prospects on a database, but not on some spreadsheet on your computer. You need an automated system that is tied into your marketing activities.

In fact you should be spending 80% of your time marketing your business to get traffic to your website. Once people reach your site you need a method of capturing their details - preferably using a squeeze page. All my marketing activities are directed to one of a number of squeeze pages. For example, I'm currently running a campaign to offer a totally FREE marketing program to help online marketers generate more income, titled the Profit Tools Program, and although the page resides on my main website, it has no direct links to any other page, but it does have a small form for data capture. Now don't expect people to enter their address, telephone number, date of birth etc., because a) you don't need it and b) they won't give it. Their name and email address is more than sufficient. (Tip: Provide separate data boxes for first name and last name - it will later help you personalise your emails.) By setting up an autoresponder, (and I recommend TrafficWave because it is the best value for money and offers the best opportunity to make more income) you can capture these vital pieces of data and let your autoresponder do the rest for you. Think about your autoresponder as a perfect salesperson. They always follow up every lead, exactly when you tell them to, and they work for you 24/7, never have a vacation and they cost you a pittance. How many real sales people are like that?! I'll leave you with this last thought as to why you need an autoresponder. Do YOU personally always purchase goods or a service the first time you visit a new website? Your answer is probably "No". And that is the answer most people will give - including your potential customers. Use an autoresponder to send regular messages and offers, and before too long you'll start seeing orders come in.

In my next posting I'll be discussing more methods of marketing online. Until then . . . Happy Marketing!
